Introduction
This page will guide you through the steps on how to create a link in the Link Library of Spencer. If you haven't read our Understanding web links, mobile and desktop applications page we would strongly advice you to do first.

How to create a link
Navigate to Links. Click Create new link.
Next, you can choose the type of link you want to create: web link, mobile or desktop application.
Let’s see how to create all three type.
Web link
Click Create web link. Fill out all required fields. Click Create link.
By selecting Available on Mobile you enable iOS & Android users access to this link. Alternatively, checking Available on Desktop enables access to Windows & macOS users.
Note, make sure the URLs provided are valid. Also, if your website or web application supports different languages, provide a URL with language query parameter – as shown in the screenshot. This ensures that the website or web application is instantly opened in the user’s preferred language.
If you click on Audience, you limit the audience who has access to this link – or you can go ahead and click Create link to make it available to your entire Spencer audience.
Mobile Application
Click Link mobile app. Fill out all required fields. Click Create link.

You can also restrict access to this link by checking any of the supported languages. Depending on the end-user’s configured app language they will or will not see this app in their Links feature. In the example above we’ve opted to show the app for all languages.

Desktop Application
Click Link desktop app. Fill out all required fields. Click Create link.

How to make a link accessible to a specific audience
When creating a link, you can optionally restrict its the audience by selecting one or more user lists in Article settings.
Only people part of at least one of the selected user lists, will have access to this specific link. Others won’t see this link in Spencer’s Links feature. Important to note, if you leave the audience empty, everyone with access this link.
Finalize link creation by clicking Create (or Update) link.

- Q - will my links to internal pages behind the company VPN work?
- A - If the content linked to from a spencer content article is protected by your company firewall, your device(s) must have proper VPN applications & configuration to allow the user to access those resources.
